Rebel Girls Mean Business - Rebel Girls

Author: Rebel Girls

Genre: Children's Nonfiction, Mini-memoirs
Rating: 4.5 stars.

Yet another marvellous Rebel Girls title. And I am so awed by this one!

The title is slightly misleading because this book isn’t just about entrepreneurs managing their own companies/businesses but also about women in the higher echelons of the corporate world who do their best for their employer in their capacity as CEO or VP and so on.

I had assumed that the content might get a bit repetitive, especially as I have zilch interest in entrepreneurship, but boy, was I surprised! Each story is so personal, so relatable, and so inspirational that I found myself captivated by these talented ladies. Most of the stories, yet again, come from the USA, but a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds is covered, which makes the book diverse enough.

When it comes to business, there are quite a few words that are new to little ones – entrepreneurship, unicorns, profit, shares, and so on. This book offers a brief explanation of common business words towards the end so that budding entrepreneurs don’t get bogged down by the vocabulary. There’s also a step-by-step activity list on how to create your own business. I found this list outstanding – simple content and yet highly practical.

The illustrations accompanying each bio are once again from various female and nonbinary artists from all around the world, the youngest of whom is just 7!

In short, simply brilliant. Go buy this for the future corporate go-getters in your life!

My thanks to Rebel Girls and NetGalley for the DRC of “Rebel Girls: Awesome Entrepreneurs”. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.
