The time periods are nicely varied, but not explored much due to the restrictions of the plotline. The character development is almost non-existent. The reveal is disappointing. Might work better for YA readers as it does offer all the *feels* of young romance. Plot Preview: Evelyn remembers most of her lives, but not the earliest ones as they are hazy. Interesting plot spanning multiple genres, good characters though a tad beyond the era in terms of thinking, a slow-but-steady pace, and disappointing romance. The blurb makes it sound like a timeslip story; it’s not. I would have liked some actual timeslip, but once I readjusted my expectations, my experience improved. Well-written and loveable characters ( I hope you realise what a miracle this compliment is, coming from me for a YA novel ), fast pace, good plot, sweet romance without getting too mushy or cringey. I took it for the magical realism, but I ended up liking all of it. Much recommended.
