If you ever feel like reading a feel-good book when you are down, there's nothing like a children's book to lift up your spirits. The old unbeatable queen of this realm was Enid Blyton, what with her flying wishing chairs and lands atop the Faraway tree.
Today, there is a plethora of children's books in the market with umpteen authors. We are too spoilt for choice. So if you are looking for a simple hearttouching book that you want to gift to your child or maybe even to yourself, here's one brilliant option you can try: The Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher. This is such a delightful book that you simply can't keep it down.
Recommended for all independent readers above the age of 7. Can be a fabulous option as a bedtime story for younger kids too.
Initially, I felt that this would be on similar lines as David Walliams, but except for a slight resemblance in writing style, there is nothing else to connect the two authors. David Walliams (I adore his books too!) is out-and-out crazy in his storylines, creating a perfect medley of the real and the really weird. Tom Fletcher writes in Enid Blyton style, a magical story with a great balance of good characters and naughty characters, each of whom get their due desserts by the end of the book. Children will love this adorable book, and so would their parents.
I'm now waiting for its sequel "The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch" to be available at a more reasonable rate so that I can get my hands on it too.
