My Sloth and the Very Contagious Case of the Yawns - Hailee Oman - ★★★★

AUTHOR: Hailee Oman
GENRE: Children's Picture Book
PUBLICATION DATE: February 28, 2022
RATING: 4 stars.

A cute bedtime story that will meet its purpose if the person reading the book loud performs his/her/their duty well. And that is to dramatize every single ‘yawn’ in the book.

The reader tip at the very beginning declares: ‘To get maximum results, read slowly and exaggerate those yawns.” Thus we have a little girl whose pet sloth keeps yawning even during the most interesting of activities and she realises that he needs to go to bed. But once he is tucked in, she realises that yawns are very contagious and she herself has caught the yawning bug from her pet. Will she be able to resist, or will the solution be the same for her?

This will be a funny story for those little kids who are bright and shiny-eyed even in bed. The illustrations are cute and colourful. The language level is quite basic and the humour will work wonderfully for children in the 2-5 year age range.

Disclaimer: As the tired adult reading this aloud, make sure you yourself don’t succumb to those loud and contagious yawns. 😛
