Awww, this is the cutest book I've read in a long, long time!

Princess Winnabelle finds a little unicorn and adopts it as her pet. But she soon realises that caring for a pet isn't that easy.

I adored how the book depicts the importance of taking care of the animals in our charge. It speaks to children in a simple yet understandable way. To add to the charm, the illustrations are Awwwww-inducing! And hey, you have a unicorn too!

A wonderful book for early independent readers aged 5+.

In a Nutshell: An OwnVoices short story anthology aimed at middle-graders and highlighting some mythical “beasts” from South-East Asian cultures. Elaborate focus on various legendary cryptids from this region. Great illustrations to supplement the information. However, the plots focus more on the human characters than on the mythical beings, which is somewhat disappointing. Still, it’s a unique collection and deserves an audience. This anthology contains seventeen stories, each focussing on one specific cryptid from South-East Asian mythology. The list of contributors includes some exceptional known names such as Jesse Q. Sutanto and Erin Entrada Kelly. The book begins with an introductory note by Malaysian editor-author Hanna Alkaf, offering information about cryptids and their presence in the mythology of this region. This note is so well-written! A slightly bittersweet story, but told positively. The third book of the Stormy Normy series. Better if read in series order. Plot Preview: After becoming the champion of the Tom Quilty endurance race, Stormy is now ready for the next phase of his adventures with his owner Charlie. They are training for ‘reining’, which is a whole other ballgame and requires completely different skills.
